8K TV unveiled by  LG Electronics

LG is pushing TV displays to ever-greater sizes

LG is pushing TV displays to ever-greater sizes and resolutions for the upcoming CES 2018.  CES, the tech industry’s biggest annual trade show, kicks off next week, which means it’s time for various gadget makers to start teasing their most striking announcements.

The South Korean electronics giant announced on Sunday that its new 88-inch 8K TV will be at its booth on the show floor. The eye-blowing 8K resolution, at 7,680×4,320 pixels, is four times that of 4K, and 16 times more than the standard full-HD, 1,080×1,920-pixel resolution. It’s both the largest and highest resolution OLED panel ever concocted.

The 33 million self-emissive OLED pixels in each 8K OLED display create the more delicate images and unmatched picture quality that are already highly regarded in the UHD TV industry. There’s no word on price or when this new 8K TV will be available.

LG continues to invest heavily in OLED tech, making it one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of the screen technology. But expect Samsung, its nearest rival, to have something similar to compete with this beast for CES.
